A few months ago, many of our students could barely say “Bawo ni?” without giggling.
Now, they’re getting ready to present in Yoruba — live, for their parents, their teachers, and for themselves.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 17th, Ivoryland Support will be hosting a special Yoruba Class Presentation. And while it might seem like just another lesson to come, for us, it’s so much more.
A Journey Rooted in Identity
We started Ivoryland Support with a simple dream: to help Nigerian children in the diaspora speak their native languages and understand their roots — with pride, not pressure.
Since then, every song sung, proverb recited, and greeting practiced has brought us closer to that dream.
Our young learners, some shy, some bold, have shown us what happens when language meets encouragement: confidence blooms.
Tomorrow Is More Than a Presentation
It’s a celebration.
It’s proof.
It’s the beginning of something beautiful.
Our students will recite greetings, perform short role-plays, and demonstrate what they’ve learned in these few months. No, it won’t be perfect. But it will be authentic. And deeply moving.
This is about children speaking the language of their ancestors — many for the first time in their lives.
To Our Parents: Thank You
We know many of you didn’t grow up speaking Yoruba fluently. Some of you feared your children might never connect with their cultural identity.
But here we are — taking that first beautiful step together.

Final Word
Tomorrow, our children will speak Yoruba.
And when they do, they’ll remind us: we are never too far from home.
